I cannot wait to know this man.
My words, whispers and secrets find way to him.
Ever so near he is, though I see him not.
I worry, he pacifies; I weep, he consoles;
I, who look into the mirror, am ashamed of the one who looks
back.
He shakes his head smiling, and whispers: ‘you are so
lovely.’
I cannot believe him who has no voice, no body,
Yet, I listen to him, believe in myself and I live on.
I balk; he encourages, urges me on.
When fear creeps in, his warmth emboldens me.
I dare not cross this narrow bridge across the roaring
waters,
When darkness blinds me and I barely know him.
I cannot wait to know this man.
Author's note: The word 'Animus' might seem somewhat ambiguous. The meaning I've chosen here for this word comes from eminent psychologist Dr.Carl Jung's Analytical Psychology.It is a part of his vast repertoire of his work, according to which Animus is the archetype of reason and spirit in women. This is the male and rather suppresed aspect of the female psyche, (as the anima is the female aspect of male psyche.)
That being said, the poetry isn't too technical. What do you think? Please, please let me know, I'd be happy to know your take on the topic, too.
